Material Hacks

The project aimed to explore, through material tests and various experiments, how a material can be transformed into something perceived as more exclusive than its actual material value. These tests have led to the creation of several pieces of furniture and objects.

The materials designated for the project include wood wool, polyurethane, and plywood. Using methods such as milling, molding, and staining, these materials have been transformed with an emphasis on artistic design value, resulting in key elements for the project’s final outcome.

To gain deeper insights into the physical perception of these objects and furniture, they have been integrated into a spatial setting. The strategies developed during this investigation have also been utilized to design and shape an interior concept for a restaurant environment. This concept is based on a premises programme devised by the client, while allowing the designer considerable creative freedom.
