Händer som skapar och bär
My exam project is centred around the hand and its many possibilities for creation and decoration. With organic shapes and protection as inspiration, I wanted to create different objects, all to be worn on the body.
I carried out a broad material experimentation including metal casting, sculpting with acrylic and gel polish, and bead embroidery. Through this exploration I looked for how I could capture the multifaceted abilities and meanings of the hand. I started from how important creation is for me, and wanted to express this through jewellery.
The result was three pieces of jewellery that also grew into small sculptures during the process, and a “dishwashing glove” made entirely of glass beads with an accompanying hook that is also a brooch. These became a tribute to creation, the decorativeness that the hand carries, as well as everyday life and the importance of protecting your hands.
