Mellanrummet
Mellanrummet is a modular and movable interior system developed to activate empty and unused spaces. The project explores how existing rooms can be reactivated without making any permanent changes in the building, through simple constructions made from standard timber, designed to be assembled, dismantled, and adapted to different needs and situations. The system creates a room within a room, including functions for work, conversation, and storage, and can change over time depending on the place and its users.
The project takes its starting point in a time when many spaces remain empty, while access to open and creative meeting places is limited. Through design and collaborative building, the project investigates how existing environments can be activated.
The project also includes a manual with drawings and assembly instructions, allowing others to build, adapt, and further develop the system themselves.
