Omsorg
Omsorg is a project that through a colorful and playful design challenges the often traditional dark aesthetic of grief. The project investigates how design can help make
grief more visible and less stigmatized in society, particularly in a western context where death is often considered a private or taboo subject.
Through interviews with individuals who have lost a loved one, patterns are created and sewn into quilted blankets.
The illustrations capture small details from the stories, a specific place, an object, or a feeling. As part of the work a website has also been developed where individuals can order their own personal memory blanket.
The project aims to offer a space for reflection, where the blanket can serve as a conversation piece. The blanket symbolizes rest and slowing down. It can be used in many different ways, as a wall hanging, at a funeral, a gift to someone close, or simply to wrap around yourself when seeking comfort and rest.
