Sitter på en hemlighet

The project uses illustration and spatial design to highlight the feminist movement in Gothenburg during the 20th century. By combining the technique of wood inlays with a piece of furniture, a bench placed in the Gothenburg City Library, the project tells the story of women’s fight for rights and equality.

The illustrations are meant to convey both the historical narrative and serve as a mirror reflecting our present time. The bench acts as a conversation piece that both visually tells a story and provides a space for reflection and dialogue, where the illustrations spark curiosity and encourage discussions around gender norms and feminism.

The project is based on the book Att ge upp har inte övervägts (”Giving Up Has Not Been Considered”), whose texts and images have inspired the design of the illustrations. The project explores how stories can be integrated into objects and spaces, and how visual design can influence how we experience and understand our surroundings. The goal is to create a place where history takes physical form and becomes accessible to everyone who passes by.
