SINNESRÖRELSER
SINNESRÖRELSER is a sensory exploration environment created for public spaces such as libraries and Världskulturmuseet, places where people with severe to profound intellectual disabilities are rarely considered the primary audience. Through tactile and sensory experiences, SINNESRÖRELSER invites visitors into a cultural experience based on exploration, where each person can discover and engage according to their own abilities and conditions, either independently or together with others.
SVÄRMA is a textile sculpture measuring approximately 2Å~2 meters. The work functions both as an independent sensory and exploratory space and as part of SINNESRÖRELSER. Inspired by the colors and forms of the sunflower. The sculpture consists of petals, filaments, pistil, anthers, sepals and veins. The different parts are sewn in canvas, terry cloth, and velvet with a variety of fillings.
These include polystyrene beads, plastic balls, plastic granules, kinetic sand, steel wire, and wadding. The materials create diverse tactile experiences: soft, hard, sharp, flexible, airy, heavy, hairy, and rough.Through interaction you can evoke feelings of calm, curiosity, playfulness, bodily awareness, and emotional presence.
SVÄRMA can be approached in many different ways. Visitors may sit, lie down, rest beneath the petals or explore the embroidered surfaces with their hands, face and body. There is no correct way to interact with the work, the visitor shapes their own experience.
