Movement I&II
In my final project, I have explored how to create an illusion of movement in ceramic objects. I have based my work on various qualities that I have selected, which I believe contribute to the perception of movement: the relationship to the base, twists, gaps, swarming forms and rhythm.
I don’t have a fixed idea of what the end result will be; rather, it’s something that emerges through my interaction with the material. I try to make use of chance in various ways to achieve an effect that surprises me. I also find it exciting when a material is experienced in a different way than expected. I’m looking for a kind of energy, tension, presence that reinforces the feeling that something is alive. Movement is life.
