Cinema today exists in constant competition with the smartphone, a device that fragments attention and reshapes how we engage with moving images. What happens if the logic of scrolling is brought into a cinematic form?
Between Scrolls is a 17-minute hybrid film that explores phone addiction through the structure and psychology of the feed. Following a protagonist moving through his day, the film interweaves interviews with preteens and adults reflecting on phone use, bans, and dependency.
As the protagonist attempts to pull away from his device, the film instead moves closer to the algorithm, to repetition, and to the rhythms of compulsive scrolling. By shifting from participation to spectatorship, Between Scrolls transforms a familiar digital behavior into a space for reflection, questioning how attention, agency, and cinema itself are being redefined.
