Prompting Craft
Prompting Craft explores our relationship with objects and materials in an era where rapid technological advancement continually reshapes our habits and perspectives. There is a risk that artistic work and craftsmanship becomes undermined or overlooked as production processes become increasingly automated or simplified.
By allowing articial intelligence, or AI, to interpret problems and practically realize its solutions, we understand AI’s current understanding of our physical environment and its potential role as a tool. What happens when we ask it to design physical, modular tools intended for excavation?
The project investigates the role and preservation of craftsmanship in relation to technological advancement By combining traditional analog fabrication methods like metal milling, aluminum anodizing, and wood turning – with digital techniques such as image/video generation and 3D printing, it creates a form of “contemporary archaeology.” This approach offers an exploratory reflection on new ways of creating and thinking about materials and methods, embodied in an expandable modular system designed to evolve and grow over time.
