Stora Hotet – The revival of Tidaholms Stadshotell

During the 1980s, the hotel was adorned with a neon sign reading “Stora Hotellet”. When three letters went out, the sign became “Stora Hotet”, which became the hotel’s new name.
The project aims to revitalize Tidaholms Stadshotell, now called Stora Hotet, through design that promotes social interaction and community. The aim is to make the hotel attractive to both locals and visitors. Using archival materials, colors and materials that reflect the city’s culture and history, a nostalgic but modern atmosphere is created.
Murals of historic places in Tidaholm provide a living narrative. The hotel offers a quiet lounge for coffee and work in the morning and daytime, while evenings become lively with after-work and music events.
Stora Hotet has varied themes and event nights that attract a wide audience, as well as a drinks menu inspired by local places.
The project shows how design can enhance local places and contribute to Tidaholm’s development and a sustainable future.
Welcome to Stora Hotet, where Tidaholm’s history meets the design of the future!
