MELLANRUM – En gestaltning av det urbana mellanrummet
The project explores the design of an urban park in the Plantaget city block, Gothenburg. It investigates how movement patterns, environmental conditions and site qualities can inform the creation of a socially sustainable public space.
The design is based on site analysis focusing on desire lines, sunlight conditions and the existing architectural identity of the surrounding context. These studies informed a zoning strategy of six interconnected areas shaped by pathways, brick walls and variations in levels and vegetation.
The six zones are characterized by different spatial conditions, ranging from open social areas to more intimate and enclosed environments.
Material choices such as brick, concrete, vegetation and metal structures reinforce the overall spatial composition and create a cohesive expression throughout the site. The project aims to support a variety of uses, including meeting, resting and movement, while maintaining a strong relationship to its urban context.
