Somewhere Far Away
Someone from a planet that looks a lot like ours travels through space. Somewhere far away, in another part of the universe, a figure lives on a small planet. He isn’t lonely because he’s always been alone. Then one day, everything changes.
This project is part of my journey to find the perfect fusion of traditional textile craft and my own illustrations. The tapestries are made with finnväv, a traditional double-weave technique from Bohuslän. It’s characterised by its unique patterns and black-and-white colour scheme, and in many ways it’s very similar to ink illustrations.
Somewhere Far Away explores a visual narrative through illustrated images in hand woven tapestries, wanting to stir the imagination of the viewer into experiencing a story without the use of words.
