Sovsnäcka
Sovsnäcka is the concept of a restpod for universities, developed to promote recovery through nature-inspired pattern and interior design. The project highlights the importance of spaces for rest in public environments and, through a dedicated and thoughtfully designed recovery space, contributes to normalizing rest rather than stigmatizing it as laziness.
Inspired by the sea, seashells, and the calm beneath the surface, the development of the concept and the accompanying duvet pattern is grounded in site analyses of existing university rest areas and how impressions of organic patterns found in nature support recovery in people. The pattern depicts underwater plants, seashells, and corals. The motifs are intentionally not entirely realistic, allowing the pattern to exist in the space between dream and reality — much like the person resting within it. A place where the user can let go of seriousness and find calm.
Sovsnäcka is a design proposal that prioritizes recovery and emphasizes the importance of rest in public environments. By creating opportunities for recovery, more people are able to participate in work, public life and in this project: education. Contributing to both individual well-being and a more socially sustainable society.
