Bridging dance & community
In my degree project, I explore how participatory methods can be integrated into an ongoing urban planning process at Wieselgrensplatsen in Gothenburg, focusing on the potential relocation of Svenska Balettskolan.
Within the project, I designed and facilitated a series of workshops with students and staff from the ballet school. The mobile objects exhibited here were used in one of these workshops, called Place Puzzle. The workshop took the format of a civic dialogue walk, where participants moved through the area with a twist: the objects were carried along and used to test and prototype new spaces.
The mobile objects include stools, a ballet barre, a table, plant boxes, and mirror backdrops. They are not final proposals, but tools for exploration and interpretation. Through them, I investigate how furniture can operate beyond static function, instead acting as an active participant in shaping movement, space, and experience.
Overall, my project seeks to show how participatory design and temporary interventions can make urban development more tangible and more closely connected to its future users.
