The shore we never reach

Den här texten finns bara tillgänglig på engelska.

This project is an artistic publication that addresses the challenges and vulnerabilities that arise from sociocultural ideology changes in a globalized era, positioning in the knowledge fields of cultural anthropology, meritocracy, multiculturalism, and individualism. The idea of being a world citizen and traveling the world has been widely discussed in today’s globalized era. However, it’s also important to acknowledge the potential challenges and downsides, including negative emotions caused by culture shock, identity confusion, and a lack of sense of belonging.

In the publication, “shore” serves as a visual metaphor and narrative thread, together with the ocean and waves as visual symbols of intimate stories, revealing the struggles of integrating my own cultural heritage and foreign identities. Going ashore is a metaphor and an imagination. We float on the sea, always looking for new continents, seeking to go ashore. But do shores exist?

Believing that everyone is born with different talents and passions and will face his or her own challenges and worth in life, a voting part that allows audiences to interact was added to the exhibition. It encouraged individuals to seek their own values and think about what a meaningful life is to them. This project is also a healing journey through an emotional crisis from a minority perspective.
