From trash to treasure

Working with recycled wood shreds I have explored working with wood without using boards or sheets. In this exploration I have attempted
to cast wood into shape. By using clay to produce the shape and form I have then cast wood shreds together with epoxy resin in plaster molds
of the clay form.
One advantage of this method is that shape that is hard to produce by gluing boards or sheets together can be accomplished. I decided to make a chair in this material to show the possibilities of casting rounded surfaces.

As glue and materials develop going straight to form without passing the steps of glueing things together first might be possible.
My main take away from this project is that it is possible to think of working wood in new ways, one might have to endure some questions but to move
forward we need to allow experimentation that seems unreasonable to hopefully end up with better things.
