Synopsis
Nadim is 14 and has his eye on a record player, but his birthday money doesn’t stretch far enough. When a friend introduces him to online gambling, a lucky win gives him a taste of easy success. The thrill of winning pulls him in, but as the losses pile up, Nadim begins borrowing money, hiding the truth, and sinking into trouble. When he’s caught searching for money in his parents’ bedroom, the consequences become unavoidable…
By following Nadim’s journey, this film reflects on the growing accessibility of gambling, and its impact on young people.

Biography
Sosi Chamoun (b. 1989), born and raised in Stockholm, is currently pursuing her MFA in Film at HDK-Valand, Gothenburg University. Prior to this, she studied film directing at Kalix Folkhögskola and Stockholm University of the Arts.

She has a decade of film industry experience as a freelancer, film teacher, and cinema manager. Her award-winning short films reflect on human rights issues, often directed toward a younger audience.

Artist Statement
Sosi Chamoun is a filmmaker with a strong interest in exploring human rights issues, particularly in ways that connect with younger audiences. Her work is rooted in a desire to foster meaningful conversations that encourage empathy and reflection, especially among children and teenagers. In her latest project, Chamoun focuses on the emotional and psychological effects of gambling addiction in teenagers—an issue that is often overlooked but has a profound impact on mental health. Drawing from real-life stories and extensive research, the film aims to highlight the human side of this growing concern, bringing attention to the personal struggles behind the statistics. Chamoun’s approach is collaborative and grounded in ethical storytelling. By consulting individuals with lived experience and professionals in the field, she worked to create a narrative that feels genuine and respectful. The young actors brought their own insights to their roles, improvising their lines to ensure the story remained authentic and relatable.

This film is an attempt to contribute to a wider conversation about mental health and the challenges young people face. Chamoun’s work seeks to shed light on these issues in a thoughtful and human way, offering a fresh perspective that encourages understanding and dialogue.
