ALWAYS COMING HOME

Always Coming Home is an installation grounded in material exploration, symbolism, and storytelling. The installation explores land as both a physical and emotional entity, carrying memory, mythology, and personal history through hybrid sculptures and fantastical landscapes.
By combining ceramics with newly developed biomaterials created from algae and organic matter, I investigate how different materials can convey, express, and reimagine personal and cultural narratives.
The components used for the biomaterial work have been gathered from Greece and Sweden, including olive leaves, reeds, spices, fruit peels, and Gothenburg clay, connecting the materials to personal experience and place. The creation forms a patchwork of land, uniting my two locations and expressing an interdisciplinary method of craft.
With this work, I am building a world influenced by Ursula K. Le Guin’s Always Coming Home, a science-fiction, post-apocalyptic work that imagines a future society through fragments of stories, myths, and everyday life.
Drawing inspiration from Greek mythology, folk imagery, and my own lived experience of home, I aim to create a space where objects act as narrative carriers, connecting past and future, permanence and ephemerality, and the shifting ways in which we construct a sense of place.
