Crafting through waste

Den här texten är bara tillgänglig på engelska.

Crafting through waste is a practice-based design research that explores waste as a lens to question societal notions of value and exclusion. It examines how materials like discarded cardboard and people, such as migrants and asylum seekers, are both rendered disposable by systemic processes.

Through a collaborative design and craft process at the Rainbow House, a queer community center in Gothenburg that holds space for recent migrants and assylum seekeres, the project brings together material and social concerns. The participatory and collective creation of cardboard seating furniture embodies a search for alternative modes of use and care that can challenge and provide a path beyond the act of discarding.
