Nostalgia merges organic forms of traditional Western design with the simplicity of traditional Korean furniture. Drawing inspiration from the silhouette of a French commode as a whole structure of the piece, while expressing inspiration from uncluttered lines and the traditional wood burning technique called ‘Nak-dong’ from Korean heritage.
Throughout the concern of the significant advancements of minimalism, functionality, and productivity, I was concerned that the basic approach of craftsmanship might have vanished due to certain advancements. This project is strictly focused on the design form throughout the reinterpretation of historical aesthetics in a modern context.
