This project is about how to tell stories in many different ways. We have explored, as we might call it, an appendix to the Röhsska Museum of Design and Craft in Gothenburg, how to work toward more inclusive curation and how an archive built on people’s willingness to share can contribute to the collective experience of heritage.
>We brought encounters into parks, communal kitchens, and neighbourhood centres, asking one question: do you have an object at home that matters to you? A worn dictionary, a melted dictaphone, a pigeon figurine, ordinary things carrying extraordinary stories.
The result is a hybrid: a physical installation built from reclaimed stage textiles from the Gothenburg Opera and aluminium profiles donated by a local car manufacturer, completed with birchwood and 3D printed joints—all made in-house at HDK. Alongside it, a digital platform where the stories live on. We called the approach designing less: resisting the urge to explain or resolve, and trusting the encounter itself as the work.
An archive doesn’t have to be a monument. It can be borrowed, incomplete, and alive.
