Domestic Scenery

In the project Domestic Scenery I use pastoral and industrialized materials to describe an ambiguous dimension rooted in the domestic world. A dimension where creativity, daydreams, boredom and desire go hand in hand. Within the crafted objects the concept of daydreams and flow are explored through raw materiality and textures.
This project embraces my personal tendency to romanticize traditional materials and the way we as humans took care of what grew next door in the historical past.
I work with natural materials such as hay, straw, wool, beeswax and eggshells because of their fundamental connection to living bodies and the organic world.
By uniting natural materials and industrialized details I attempt to illustrate the sense of fragmentation and complexity which we associate with our globalized world.
I’m asking questions about the psychological consequences of the plentitude of inputs which define everyday life in this modern age.
How does artistic practice function in a society where profound boredom is avoided at all costs? Embedded in this paradox the power of self expression is used as an entry point towards self-agency, meaningfulness and imagination.
