G\u00f6teborgs tystnade v\u00e4ggar<\/h2>\n

The project explores the subject of demolition in Gothenburg through the lens of three buildings, each situated at a different stage in the demolition process: one that has been demolished, Gamla Flickl\u00e4roverket, one currently under threat, Valhallabadet, and one that has been preserved, Gamla Hovr\u00e4tten. The aim is to raise awareness and contribute to the conversation around demolition, cultural heritage, and sustainability.<\/p>\n

The three buildings are represented as individual works in model form and exhibited in a gallery context. Each model is assigned a specific color to signify its status: red for demolished, yellow for threatened, and green for preserved. Inspired by the wooden building blocks we used to play with as children, the models take shape after them into simplified architectural forms representing the buildings. This simplified aesthetic is intended to differentiate from the commonly more detailed and fragile look models can have and create an inviting environment for interaction and engagement. The more the audience interacts with the models, the more they discover about the buildings and their stories.<\/p>\n

Each model contains 4-6 interactive blocks that can be pulled out of the buildings. These blocks are painted in saturated colors and contain texts with personal memories as well as information about the buildings and their connection to Gothenburg\u2019s demolition history.<\/p>\n
