The Triangular Dinner
The Triangular Dinner explores how objects, spatial arrangements, and material influence social interaction and human behaviour around the dining table. The project investigates intimacy, hierarchy, and communication within shared multisensory experiences, using the dinner table as a site for dialogue, negotiation, and participatory design investigation.
Rebecca Magyar has a background in Design Engineering and previously worked within CMF (Colour, Material, and Finish). During the MFA, her practice has focused on intuitive and material-driven explorations. In this project, however, the process shifted towards a more structured, engineered, and calculated workflow in order to embody ideas of systematisation through form. The work examines how systems, structures, and constructed environments shape behaviour, relationships, freedom of movement, and participation within social settings.
Through conversation, observation, and a shared three-course dinner around the table, participants were invited to discuss food systems as part of urban development and complex social structures, and how these are understood through lived realities and affect everyday life.
