SKIN STUDIES / SHELL FACES
Through explorations of nature, human relations, and mind-body connections, Nina Worren investigates how we walk in the world, what we see and feel, and why. As in “Shell Faces,” her works are often based on autofiction, using her own life, dreams, and memories as sources.
Present in her mediations are elements of tactility, time, closeness, and silence.
Skin is our largest organ; it holds our body and mind together, embraces us, and protects us. In ”Skin Studies,” Worren investigates skin, the diversity and similarities, and the relations between skins. From the surface of the earth to under water, humans, fauna, and flora.
A word, a thought, a touch, or warm or cold sense sensations.
Can skin remember? Can skin carry stories?
