Mathilda Läckberg Holmquist

BRB

Technique: Double sided lightboxes made with MDF, digital prints on polyester fabric, ledlights, 120x80x60 cm

In Mathilda Läckberg Holmquist’s artistic practice, photography is intertwined with various materials and objects to evoke collective memories of time and space. BRB (Be Right Back) is a term from early internet chat forums signaling temporary absence from the computer. In this work Läckberg Holmquist connects BRB  to a sort of mental absence in one’s surroundings. The visual material is based on observations of fidgeting behaviors that emerge in such a state. By adding projections onto the images and then photographing them on screens, a dialogue is created between the content and the hyper-digital aesthetic.
