Coeur de Pic is a photographic and personal exploration of violence in relation to objects and femininity.
The installation consists of darkroom prints and an enlarged metal keychain that Alva Le Febvre has made by hand. During her process, she has drawn inspiration from still lifes in female art history and feminine war characters in pop culture, as well as her own experiences. The chain is adorned with personal items and enlarged charms, which refer to self-defense methods such as carrying keys between the knuckles.
Alva Le Febvre’s practice is primarily based on exploring feminine stereotypes through a combination of photography and objects. Her process is often driven by hoarding and materiality, such as duplicating her images in the darkroom or creating objects.
